About the role

As a Junior AI Engineer at Futurice, you'll be part of our growing AI & Data team, helping build the intelligent applications and workflows that sit at the heart of our client work. This is a hands-on role where you'll learn by doing: building real demos, prototypes, and AI-powered applications alongside experienced engineers.

Skills & Requirements

What we're looking for:

• Foundational Python skills – You can write clean, readable code, build things from scratch, and debug your way through problems.

• Awareness about GenAI and agentic tools – You've explored (or are excited to explore) modern AI libraries like Pinecone, HuggingFace, LangChain/LangSmith, or CrewAI, and you have some exposure to agentic architectures. Familiarity is great, real curiosity is what matters most.

• Some cloud exposure – You've touched at least one cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP), or you're ready to learn. We'll help you get up to speed.

• Strong communication and openness to client work – You can explain your thinking clearly, in writing and in conversation. You're interested in the consulting side of things and understand the business context behind what you're building.

• Builder mindset and comfort with ambiguity – You prototype, experiment, and ship things. You enjoy figuring things out even when there isn't a clear answer, and you bring a high level of autonomy and desire to learn.

• Curiosity over ego – You approach disagreement with empathy, learn from feedback, and care more about getting it right than being right.

• Bonus – Personal projects, hackathon experience, or coursework in AI/ML. We love the use of AI, just tell us how you use it!

What you'll do

In this role, you will:

• Build demos and PoCs – Create working prototypes using cutting-edge AI technology, from ChatGPT-powered apps and voice interfaces to full agentic systems using protocols like A2A.

• Develop AI-powered applications – Assist in building and deploying cloud-native machine learning and GenAI applications that solve real client problems across industries like media, retail, and automotive.

• Create end-to-end AI workflows – Work on knowledge management systems, RAG pipelines, chatbots, and agents that assist software delivery teams.

• Learn from experienced practitioners – Pair with senior AI engineers, participate in code reviews, and pick up best practices in a real-world consulting environment.

• Contribute to internal AI practices – Help shape how Futurice builds and delivers AI solutions, contributing to shared tools, frameworks, and knowledge.

• Learn how to engage with clients – We'd love for you to join client conversations, present your work and advise clients and we'll support you to get there!

Next steps - who you’ll meet and for what

We aim to make the process clear, human, and respectful of your time:

1. Talent screening call (30m) – with someone from our People Team to learn about you, your ambitions, and answer your questions about the role.

2. Technical conversation / skills-based interview (60m) – with members of our AI team. You’re choice to bring in an AI project you’ve built and talk us through it or we can provide you with an AI task.

3. Values interview (45m) – with a cross-functional duo to explore how you work, what drives you, and how you align with our culture of care, trust, transparency, and continuous improvement.

What Futurice Offers You

We use a transparent salary model based on your skills, responsibilities, and impact. The salary band for this role is The salary band for this role is £30,000 – £40,000 depending on experience.
