About the role
We are now looking for a Legal Trainee to co-create the future with us!
As a Legal Trainee at Futurice, you will have the exciting opportunity to support our legal team in providing expert advice, ensuring company compliance, and assisting in contract management within our innovative and collaborative culture. You will work together with our multidisciplinary teams, who come from 60 different nationalities.
The position is fixed-term and full-time until the end of August. The desired starting date is as soon as possible. This is a hybrid role that offers the best of both worlds: to keep our culture strong and collaboration seamless, we work together from the Helsinki office multiple days a week, with the remaining days being flexible for remote work. Please note that, unfortunately, we are not able to offer visa sponsorship for this position.

What you’ll do
In this role, you will:
Maintain and develop internal legal policies.
Maintain contract archives, create and update legal templates, and support the development of our compliance framework.
Update and maintain data protection documentation, such as privacy notices, Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), and records of processing activities.
Prepare risk and compliance reviews for new AI tools.
Draft, review, and comment on basic commercial contracts and legal documents under the guidance of our Legal Counsels.
Explore and test AI capabilities in legal work to help streamline our internal processes.
Actively follow and assess the impact of new legislation on our business operations
Research ad hoc legal issues, especially related to contract law, technology, data privacy, and employment law.
Skills & Requirements
Roughly 3–5 years of law studies behind you
Earlier experience from a trainee position in a law firm or in-house legal department, preferably with an international aspect
Fluency (written and oral) in English and Finnish. Swedish and German are considered an asset, but not an obligation.
A proactive, business-oriented mindset and a genuine interest in the technology/software industry
A basic understanding of contract law and data protection. Interest and knowledge of new legislation is considered an asset (AI Act, NIS2, Data Act).
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and a "can-do" attitude
A proactive and business-oriented approach to legal issues
You will also benefit from:
Background in technology/software-related business or practices
Interest in legal tech and automation in inhouse-legal work
Curiosity toward IT agreements and the regulatory framework around AI

Compensation
Our salary model is based on skills, responsibilities, and impact, aligning with your seniority and accountability. To promote inclusiveness, we follow an open salary policy. The salary band for this role is about 3000€/month depending on experience.
